I hate perfume too and I am constantly on the hunt for complimentary scents that won't give me a headache. You can only imagine how thrilled I was when a friend introduced me to Christopher's line of scents inspired by "memories". Besides having fantastic branding and beautifully written theories on scent, Christopher's line is an aromatic oasis. Christopher is an artist, an architect, a set designer, a scientist, a perfumer and all around interesting man. If you're roaming the streets of Brooklyn I recommend that you pay CB a visit- after all, it's just a matter of following your nose.

Smell is perhaps the most complex sense we possess and possibly this is why it is the least understood and most often taken for granted… Yet we also know, that none of the other senses can touch us so profoundly as scent. Not even music can stir the mind & heart so powerfully as one tiny whiff. Scent is always individual. Your sense of smell is one of the most unique things about you – more individual than your fingerprints, than the shape of your ear, than the pattern of your retina. Your sense of smell is one of the most important factors that defines you as YOU. The way you respond to any scent is unlike anyone else’s – no one remembers what you do, no one feels what you feel. There is a reason you remember certain scents so fondly – it’s the way nature designed you. Scent is the record of your own special life – it’s your experience. My mission is to capture that experience. I bottle it so you can have it, use it and love it whenever you wish. I can give you scent experiences you never dreamed possible. I create perfumes as unique & individual as those who wear them. And I use a great many scents never before thought of as “perfume”. But I know these are just the scents that really hit us where we live – they’re the ones we remember and love. These scents are life.

The Huntclub

The Huntclub had its gallery opening last night in a beautiful space in Toronto's Little Italy on College Street West. Beyond having a stellar name, the Huntclub is a beautifully curated show with pieces, I daresay, worth buying. I saw a beacon of light in the magic of shadow boxes and pieced together a new romance with collage.This wasn't your typical hipster gallery opening where artists decide to throw a party and then hang some of their work on the walls as an after thought. I commend HC on their dedication to producing a well rounded showcase that was both thought provoking, welcoming and fucking cool.

As I absorbed the artwork and searched for inspiration, my lovely dates for the evening got into the most interesting discussion regarding the notion of "The Hunter" and "The Hunted". Who would you rather be? 

Perhaps it's a hint of naivety and a splash of the romantic in me but I think I'd most definitely want to be the Hunted. Every now and then it's important to feel a little bit dangerous, uneasy, threatened etc. It keeps us moving, ambitious and on our toes. Perhaps the meaning of life is to outsmart the Hunter. It makes you appreciate every waking moment and take little for granted. It makes you love like it's your last chance and dream further than the eye can see. I think very few do outsmart the Hunter... but it's something worth dying for.

The Glade

Inspired by an image found on an old 1900s communion card, artists Carolyn Quatermaine & Didier Mahieu have renewed my faith in fairytales with this charming design. This bar is located in London's West End and doubles as a restaurant and a gallery.

Rainbow Theory

Hi.
I've been slacking with my blog entries. I've just been so busy not sleeping, meeting deadlines, missing deadlines etc. The life and times of a design student is hard these days. I spent all night working on some colour theory illustrations of the office I "designed" last semester. I'm far too tired to recognize if they are any good...but I will say that I have a new appreciation for colour in my life.
As I came to terms with this revelation I happened to stumble upon this video! So cool, so saturated and beautifully filmed.
