Yesterday is Lost

Today, I managed to open my curtains to escape the winter gloom that has patronized my well-being over the past few months. This is officially the Winter that went on for too long and  it's easy to see the weight of it's lingering presence on the city streets. As I let in the light, I took a moment to embrace the smiles on passersby, the pedestrian populated intersection and a few birds chirping on newly awakened trees. In moments like this it feels like the whole city comes together to express their gratitude for the gifts of a changing season with underlying relief that they survived multiple snow wars. It's been a long time coming but, I think Spring might be here to stay a while- keeping us safe, warm and wildly optimistic as we prepare for another summer in the park with endless summer night escapades and romance under the maple trees. If you got lost this winter, feel comfort in knowing that you aren't the only one. Take more comfort in knowing that summer is much better for playing hide and seek. You may not find what you're looking for but it's the journey that counts.

                   "
I don't know what the weather will be
 Whether we'll see a tomorrow.
But, if Today is all I have to give
I'll give it to you.
So, Do what you want to.

On Walking

"
I walked across the city today. You know, sometimes when you’re on a mission you don’t really take into account distance, fatigue or the salt on the side walk that has some unaccounted for vendetta against your new leather shoes. Sometimes the mission is so great that you listen to lord of the rings as you bounce along the sidewalk to make everything seem epic because..well, it IS epic. I know we’ve been tricked before but today felt like the first real spring day. It seems as though it’s been ages since I’ve seen the sun but it shone down on me like it had never left my side- like I had just dozed off for an incomprehensible amount of time and when I came to the sun was just there- loyal , as always...

Noir

I recently discovered the work of Samuel Mercure and in an instant, I fell in love. With the seasons in transition, I've been painting pictures in my mind of myself in shades of black against a bed of snow. I think Winter would be so beautiful in black and white- like a scene from an old Hollywood film. Of course I can't force my fellow city dwellers to follow my lead.. but I plan to do what I can to contribute to my vision- even if it remains a dream.

Navy in Spring

I've been so cozy in these navy blue wool pants.
I thrifted them a few months ago and finally got the chance to wear them outside of the house.
If all goes well, I won't be able to wear this gem again until fall. Let's all hope for sunnier days and warm weather!

Out of the corner of my eye, I watched you bloom.
